After attending the U of M, I moved around the country a bit - lived in Grand Forks, ND; Peoria,Il; St. Louis,Mo; and then on to the Big Apple. While New York was exciting, I decided to move to the greatest place on Earth - North Carolina. I've been here since 1989 and now teach high school English (Back To School!) at High Point Central High - home of The Bison! I won't be able to attend our reunion as I have to be back in school at that time. I'll miss seeing all the guys from the "Gad! He's Bald" group as well as all you other classmates from yesteryear. I do get back to the Land O' Lakes regularly for fishing and a visit with family (it's great to have the summer off!)

High school seems so long ago and not so relevant to life today, but for the many deep and enduring friendships forged.  I miss the relatively uncomplicated existence, comfortable lifestyle and indulgence, but not the teenage angst, pimples and raging hormones (I have my kids for that).

We were idealistic and adventuresome and hopefully still are.

Didn't have the opportunity to graduate from SLP.  Moved to Florida in junior year, graduated from Ft. Myers High.  But always thought of SLP as my high school.  Returned to MN in 1971, and have lived here since then.

After bothering to get a PhD in pure mathematics, I have been working backwards my whole professional life to end up in... elementary school math! But it's much deeper than you might think. I've also worked off and on with a project in Alaska designing elementary math curriculum from Yup'ik Eskimo elders' traditional knowledge: subsistence fishing and preserving food, navigating by the stars over the frozen tundra, elaborate symmetric needlework patterns.

I moved to sunny California in 1981 and discovered that I was actually a cheerful person. This was confirmed when I spent a sabbatical in Minnesota in 1995, and relapsed into seasonal affective gloom. So I stay in deserty places, and grow citrus in my yard.

I married David Dennis, math historian/education researcher, jazz baritone saxophonist, artist, and virtuoso gardener, in 2002. For free, I got two stepsons and a stepgranddaughter. What a deal!

After high school I joined the US Navy. Spent two tours in Viet Nam and then 2 years in Guam. Spent 13 years at Great Lakes, IL as an instructor of Propulsion Engineering for the Navy. In 1990 returned to Minnesota and worked for Green Giant in Glencoe as the Chief Boiler Engineer and then Hutchinson Utilities as a plant operator. Now I am back to teaching for a company in Florida. We travel all over teaching in power plants for operation and maintenance. Married to Rose for the last 26 years. I have a daughter in California and a son in Chicago.

Marital Status : Married second timeNumber of Children: 3 & 3Grandchildren: 2 and 10As I write this out it has been great to watch how many of you have responded. The 25th reunion was a lot of fun and it looks like there will be more attending this one. Thanks Organizers for the exceptional effort in getting this one going.
I left MN in ‘72 and had a fun and fulfilling career in the Air Force. Retired in ‘92 in the Black Hills of SD.
Amazing how many people believe SD is a southern state. We like to think our weather is in the “banana belt” as we get snow in the hills and very little in Rapid City.
Three kids from first marriage, Debbie 37, a pharmacy tech and student in Mpls, Susan 36, a police officer in Shreveport, LA, with first granddaughter, Bayleigh, and David 29, with second granddaughter, Kasey, en route to Minot, ND from AK. Close enough to visit. Yeah!
My three step kids blessed us with ten that are all in Rapid so we stay busy.
Have had several great trips the second time around. A honeymoon trip through CO and UT. Disney World a couple times. Texas. Alabama. Two Alaska cruises.
I’m less than an hour from some of the best skiing east of the Rockies until New England. And every August we get the sound of freedom, no not jets, the bike rally at Sturgis. I keep trying to recognize Roger Swedlund riding around, as for the 25th he rode in directly from Sturgis. Not as many golf courses as MN but enough to challenge. I’m bringing my clubs in Aug.
Memries, by Barbara Streisand , pretty much says it, “Can it be that it was all so simple then? “
Mid-August ought to be a real hoot in MN. See you then.

I often joke with my students about the fact that I'm a high school dropout with a PhD.
I left high school after our junior year and enrolled at the University of Minnesota under an early admission program. To tell the truth, I was driven more by a feeling of social awkwardness than intellectual hunger, so I anticipate this reunion with a bit of the social anxiety that drove me away.

After teaching high school English for 9 years in both Minneapolis and St. Paul, I earned a doctorate and began teaching at Carleton College, where this fall I will begin my 24th year. During my sabbaticals, I've also taught at Syracuse University, UC-Berkeley, and Minnesota State Correctional Facility-Stillwater, where I produced an anthology of creative writing of work by offenders serving life sentences. I've written 5 books about adolescents and literature.

I live happily in St. Paul with my husband John who, perhaps fittingly, is also a professor.

I  left Minneapolis in 1975, and moved to southern California. I started out in San Francisco, then LA . For the last 30 years, I’ve lived in San Diego with my beautiful wife of 31 years, Patti. We have 3 daughters; Danielle, aged 30, Rachel, 28 and Chloe, 13.  Danielle and Rachel are married and Rachel, is expecting my 1st grandchild in September.

I have worked along side David LeSage, also a Park graduate, at a company called Stanford Sign and Awning for last 15 years.  We make a good team as we sell signage to hospitals, restaurants, etc.

Furniture design has been a life long passion for me. I recently embarked on my own venture called Ember Lighting. I designed a collection of lamps that I am marketing to upscale design firms. Check out the website at emberlighting.com.

As I reflect back over the last 40 years since I graduated, I realize that watching my family branch out, fulfilling my love of design, playing a few rounds of golf as often as I can and spending time with my wife, life has been very sweet.
Looking forward to seeing everyone in August.
