“Community Service Volunteer” Scholarship
 
 
In early 2001, the St. Louis Park Class of 1970 "Community Service Volunteer" Scholarship was established and endowed by the graduating class of 1970.  The criteria for this scholarship requires that a graduating St. Louis Park senior has contributed significant volunteer work in the community.  Applicants must submit a letter of reference from each service organization they want considered.  In addition, applicants must submit a one-page letter stating why they choose to do their specific community service work, and for what purpose this scholarship will be used.  Applicants must have earned a minimum 3.0 GPA (un-weighted), and must attend an approved post-secondary education.

This scholarship program is administered by the St. Louis Park Dollars for Scholars organization and St. Louis Park High School.  Scholarships are awarded in a ceremony every June in the St. Louis Park High gymnasium with proud teachers, recipients and their families in attendance.
 

2024 will mark the TWENTY FOURTH consecutive year that St. Louis Park Class of 1970 awards a scholarship to an outstanding graduating senior based on significant COMMUNITY SERVICE VOLUNTEER work.

Because of the ongoing support of many classmates, we are currently able to award our scholarship winners $1000 per year.

SLP70 has donated our entire scholarship account balance to the “Dollars for Scholars” program for them to manage funds and awards based on our SLP70 scholarship award criteria.  Going forward, all of your donations will be made DIRECTLY to “Dollars for Scholars” , which is a tax deductible 503C organization.
