Dawn Vergamini
2022-02-24Superior WI, went home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 24, 2022, with her family at her side, at Solvay Hospice House. She was born in Decorah, Iowa in 1952 to Robert and Fern Dougherty, grew up in St. Louis Park, MN, graduated from Concordia College of Moorhead in 1974, and completed Physical Therapy studies at the Mayo Clinic in 1976, practicing in various facilities until her retirement in 2000.
Dawn married Greg Vergamini shortly after completing Physical Therapy School, and they raised two daughters who remain their pride and joy. She was active in both worship and service in multiple roles at Bayside Baptist Church, of Superior, and loved her church family. Her other passions included her gardens, photography, cruising, and most of all, her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her best friend and husband of 45 years, Greg Vergamini, daughters Lindi (Eric) Flemmen of Superior, Carli (Ross) Dudzik of Duluth, grandchildren Lilee Flemmen, Austin Flemmen, Sawyer Dudzik, sister Kay (David) Winek of Superior, and an extended family of in-laws, cousins, etc.
The family wishes to express special thanks to the Hospice Care team throughout Essentia Health System for their invaluable support and assistance in palliative care during Dawn’s illness, and to the many families and friends who faithfully lifted her up in prayer to the Throne of Grace.
I have fond memories of my friendship with Dawn, which was through Girl Scouts. I remember being on my first camping trip with her, and what a kind person she was--with that beautiful smile.
