A good friend he was. He was a better friend to me than I think I was to him.

Knew Bob well from Park Hill on.  Loved his sister as well.  They lived a couple doors down from Park Hill.  Then he married one of the neighborhood girls, Linda Land.  When we were little he used to protect me.  Because I was so small.  A great guy for sure.

Bob was the consummate "good guy"...fun as well as funny...sarcastic, but with a twinkle in his eye that let you (and everyone) know, he was just kidding...he often took the less popular kids under his protective wing as, he too, didn't run with the top social circles...and yet, he fit in with everyone in his own way. he defied labeling. Tough when he had to be, but a more gentle guy you'd rarely find. I have several personal stories about Bob that I was looking forward to sharing with him at our upcoming reunion...Bob Gendreau was the kind of guy who would go up to the least-known classmate and say: "I remember you!" - and mean it...Goodbye Bob, you will be missed...
