Sara Esther Burstein

Died of liver disease on October 26, 2005 at the age of 53. Preceded in death by parents, Abraham and Sadie Burstein. Survived by sister, Linda; brother- in-law, Marty; nephews, Adam and Sean Dveris, and many other relatives and friends. Born in Winona, moved to St. Louis Park at age 14, B.A. the University of Minnesota. In her work at organizations such as the Cricket Theater, the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, the Jerome Foundation, and the Minneapolis Jewish Community Center, she recognized and supported many young artists before they became well-established. People knew her as a passionate and sensitive human being. Sara also served on the boards of Jewish Vocational Service and the Adath Jeshurun Congregation. Four years ago, she moved to Washington, D.C. to work at the New Israel Fund where she organized young supporters and conducted outreach to cities such as Minneapolis in support of progressive organizations in Israel.
