What advice would you give a 15-year-old just starting high school now?: 1. We must all take personal responsibility for everything we do.
2. Design your own life or the odds are you will fall into someone else's plan.
3. You only fail when you stop trying.
4. If you are honest and ethical, the odds are stacked in your favor for good things to follow.
5. Dream it. Wish it. Do it.
6 Stay engaged in life util the day you cannot fog up a mirror any longer.

40 years has gone by quickly! We are older, yet wiser, I am sure.

I graduated from the U of M with a degree in Medical Technology. I have spent many of the past 40 years working at the U of M and the VA Medical Center. After working as a Med Tech and teaching some lab medicine & med tech courses for a number of years, I left the lab to work in clinical research at the VAMC. Four years ago I returned to the U of M, taking the position my supervisor of the 1980’s.

I also taught cooking and baking for many years, and I became a massage therapist.

My husband of 20 years and I have a happy life and a big garden in St. Paul. We like to travel and spend time with family and friends, especially our granddaughters ages 8 and 6. My granddaughters are my brightest sunshine.

'See you at the reunion!

Comment: Lots of traveling and working assorted jobs with a variety of professions. Started out as a social worker in Mpls. (adolescent psyc./adolescent crisis center, etc)...Also changed my name.

Traveled and lived in various states until I settled in Oakland, CA. I became a photographer and a teaching artist and eventually started my own business directing a summer arts camp for kids (for 25 years). A roller coaster of a life.

Comment:  I'd like to add detail to my earlier submitted outline

12/2019:

After high school I attended UMD. It got me out of the house, we could afford it & they acually took me! I started as an art major but quickly decided I wasn't good enough to make a career of it. I floated a bit then settled on a BA degree in business to get out in 4 years. Grades weren't good enough for graduate school so I funneled into sales. First, a short stint in construction sales then into industrial sales - 38 years @ Minnesota Rubber (home office & initial factory was located between Central Jr HS & SLP HS) then their Australian based competitor to finish my career (see details via www.linkedin.com/in/rich-leiendecker if interested).

It was @ UMD I met my wonderful, intellegent, beautiful, tolerant & adventureous wife of 43 years. She attended UMD from Lindberg HS. We have two children (boy, older & girl, younger) both who live in the US.

We've been fortunate in that we've seen much of the US, traveled internationally to areas I'd never go on my own & lived in areas I'd have never seen on my own. We maintain connected to old neighbors & international contacts.

My hobbies are gardening (flower) and photography.

I did fairly well in my career & what I enjoyed the most was the team sport aspect but what I grew to despise was the political aspects, travel hours & end game pressures. I learned late in my career the role I really aspired to and what I could be really, really, good at; retirement.

Comment: Hi Everyone!

I was fortunate to find a wonerful Life Partner named Dan.  We spent our early years building our own home and creating our Sustainable Lifestyle.  We were fortunate to have 2 Daughters, various cats, dogs, chickens,a few pigs  & a mule named Sally.  We raised all our own food and heated with wood.

Our 2nd stage was designing and building High Efficient Homes for resale.  I was a Real Estate Agent, sat on 5 different non-profit boards and volunteered whenever I could.  We owned a bar n' Grill named Froggy's for 17 years and last year I sold it.

Now retired I spend time with my 7 year old Grand Daughter......but looking for something new to do!!  Getting bored already!

Thank You for Putting this together!!!

Jane
