Best way to reach me is through the email address listed on my Web site.

Who'd have thought I'd be living in Nashville now?   Certainly not me when I left Park High to get my degree in Radio-TV at the University of Maryland- College Park.

I figured I would live and work in Washington D.C.  (having been, at age 13, the subject of Rosalie Kiperstin's profile in the St. Louis Park Dispatch titled "Future Senator...)

Funny thing was, before graduation from College Park (in 3 1/2 years since I spent the summer following my junior year accumulating enough credits in sociology,  at Vanderbilt University- to declare it as my minor), I was on the fast track to becoming a White House intern  (a dream entry level job in the pre-Monica Lewinsky days when we didn't yet know the name Bill Clinton let alone what has since come to light about Jack Kennedy and his White House intern!).

I'd love to,  but I'm not sure that I'll be able to, make the reunion.  I wish it were scheduled closer to July 25th when I'll be in Eden Prairie to attend my nephew's wedding.  Perhaps those of you who live nearby would like to get together then?

I need to get a new scanner but when I do I hope to share some photos that  I took during our class trip to Washington, D.C. and during the (in)famous Roman (Meal Bread) Wedding (the lattter no doubt remembered fondly by all of the late Robert Zitur's Latin "scholars").

And yes, I can still recite the lyrics to Just Live in the Here and Now (sung to the tune of Be Kind To Your Web-footed Friends).

I think about high school a lot.  All the time, in fact, because my “job” these days is to write books for and about teens.  Some of you may discover that I borrowed your name for my characters – the 1969 Echowan has become one of my key research tools. (If anybody has a copy of the 1970 edition, I'd love to see it!)  It helps me get back into that teenage mindset, an often humiliating, occasionally horrific, and always fascinating exercise. Most recently, I've been writing books drawing from my earlier childhood, set in the northwest corner of SLP—specifically, the area of what is now the Westwood Nature Center. It's still a nice place to take a walk.

I’ve been writing fiction for a living for about 30 years now, after attempting a bunch of other careers that didn’t work out so well.  Not-so-coincidentally, my S.O., Mary Logue, is also a writer.  Mary and I have been together for 29 years and 11 months, which is 30 years longer than any other woman ever put up with me.  We now live in Golden Valley (mostly) and Stockholm, Wisconsin (sometimes), with a couple of gerbil-size dogs and way too many books.

Life is good.  I’ve been appreciating it ever more after perusing the “In Memorium” section of this website.

I very much enjoyed connecting with everyone at the 2010 reunion. Since then I have retired (now live in the mountains of New Mexico) and married a wonderful woman, Carrie Classon. We maintain a very physically active life, with lots of biking and hiking in the mountains. Last fall we hiked two weeks on the famous Camino in Spain and this fall will spend a month in Pomplano, Spain. I haven't made it to any of the mini reunions but will make a major effort to make the 50th in 2020. Hope you all are healthy!!

The memories are flooding back after seeing all your names- 40 years- amazing.

I graduated from Vassar, along with Bobby Sipkins who I hope is coming to reunion! Then went  to grad school at NYU and got an MBA. Lived in NYC for 8 years and when my son John was born we moved to Sioux Falls to be back in the midwest  and I have been in SF ever since- never planned on that but its home now.

I just retired from Citibank after 32 years in human resources and operations managment. In 2000 I decided I had had enough of corporate life so went and got a PhD in Organization Leadership- AND now I get to go do what I really love as I start a full time teaching position at the University of Sioux Falls on September 1 - so YEAH I get to go back to college and school. I never stopped loving learning.

I am married to my second husband Phil who came with 3 older childred Maren, Erik and Nate so I have 4 kids and 7 grandchildren. They are a joy to be sure.

Also I finally finally am living my dream of owning my own horse!  So Eric Ramberg all that horse play in the basement when were kids led to reality at age 55.

It will be great to see everyone, so many stories and so many I have forgotten I am sure.

See you soon!

Since I never graduated, I have been reluctant to go to too many reunions, I did go to the 20th as Nestors date. I think I'll go to the 40th. If Nestor doesn't invite me I'll lean on Hartman, since he has been pommeling me with reunion info.

My Professional Bio Says: "Jim Herbert has been involved in the Chemical, Physical & Biological treatment of water & wastewater since 1975, as technical representative and designer".

I have had a lifelong interest in sailing, and have a sailing club on
